More about this coffee:
Toraja Utara, located in the Northern mountainous region of Sulawesi, Indonesia, is renowned for its unique and flavorful coffees produced by smallholder farmers who cultivate their crops in harmony with the area's rich cultural heritage and natural environment. Coffee farming in this region is deeply intertwined with the traditions of the Torajan people, known for their distinct customs, architecture, and rituals that reflect their connection to the land. Lots here are typically blended from various small-holder farmers and kept separate or combined to make exceptional microlots and community lots. The coffee farms of Toraja Utara are situated at high altitudes, often ranging between 1,200 and 1,800 meters above sea level. This elevation, combined with volcanic soil and a tropical climate, provides ideal conditions for cultivating Arabica coffee varieties such as Typica and S795. As global recognition of Torajan coffee continues to grow, local farmers are investing in improved processing infrastructure and sustainable farming practices, ensuring that their coffee remains a staple of Indonesia's specialty coffee scene while preserving their cultural and environmental heritage.
